Photography has been a life-long passion and a principle objective of my travels. I use the artistic elements in my landscape photos to tell stories and engage the viewer. I am a biologist by training and a birder, and my wildlife photographs show birds in their native habitats. I am intrigued by structures that represent human endeavors past and present, and I try to capture those images from unique perspectives.
I currently shoot with Canon R6 and 70D cameras, with a Canon 24-105/f4 L IS lens for most landscapes. For birds, I use Canon 400/f5.6 L and 70-300/f4-5.6 IS lenses. I use a Canon G1X Mark III for street photography. I print my own photographs on an Epson wide-format printer, and mat and frame them for exhibition.
I use the images featured in my galleries, as well as others not included here, to create note cards, matted prints, calendars and other products. I sell my work at gift shops, craft fairs and farmers markets. I also use those images in the production of educational and interpretive materials, as shown on my Design Projects pages.
